Dota 2 in now officially released and available for everyone. You can read official announcement here.
For now new players are added to "queue" because of server stability.
We want to avoid a situation where a rush of players overloads our server infrastructure. As we increase our capacity, we will let more people in from the launch queue.
Only windows version is available but Linux and Mac version are coming soon.
